Adapting Wetland Restoration Practices in Urban Areas: Perspectives from Xochimilco in Mexico City
I wanted to share this very important article in Ecological Restoration, by Luis Zambrano et al, June 2020.
It gives a very clear and concise summary about the situation at Xochimilco, as well as outlining the idea of 'bottom-up' conservation work in the 'Chinampa-Refuge' project. This project is key to the survival of Axolotls and Xochimilco as an ecosystem. It allows local people opportunities to work in collaboration with scientists from UNAM - making traditional farming methods economically sustainable for the community.
